Beers

Get to know Cordoba’s slow beer!

Welcome to the fascinating world of Cordoba’s craft brewers, who invite us to sample their authentic local products. These are young, creative people who have found success by improving something as everyday as beer, now 100% natural, free of additives and brewed on the very same premises where you drink it. We will delve into the depths of the brewing world – the brewing room, the tanks of cold and hot water, the fermenting vats, the bottling machine… facilities that enable up to 1,000 litres of beer to be produced every day. The output is also certified as slow beer.

TASTING WORKSHOP

Did you know that beer drunk from a glass tastes better? Are you familiar with the ingredients of beer and their purpose? Do you think that hops have something to do with rabbits and that Nugget, Cascade and Mount Hood are lakes in the USA? Are you a fan of classic beers or do you prefer trying something new? Whether you’re a beer-lover or not, this workshop will help you get to know, understand and appreciate beer with tastings of six distinct types that we’ll pair with well-chosen nibbles to highlight the flavour of each beer. Be prepared for a delightfully flavoursome surprise!

Beer-making came to Spain with Carlos I, who in the 16th century installed a brewery in the monastery in Yuste (Cáceres). The brewing tradition in Cordoba took off in the 20th century with the unveiling in the 1920s of the city’s first brewery (La Mezquita S.L.). In 1957 Cervezas Águila became the first brewery in Cordoba to have air conditioning in its facilities and in the 1960s it was considered the most advanced in Spain. At the outset of the 21st century there was a worldwide flourishing of microbreweries and brewpubs, and Cordoba has enthusiastically embraced the new tendency.
